Should you learn to play bridge ?
Well, there are certainly a number of benefits – and now is a good time to learn with Corsham Bridge Club.
Following a successful experiment last year, Corsham Bridge Club intends to run a new series of Beginners Lessons commencing on Tuesday 20 October 2015. These will follow a programme recommended and promulgated by the EBU (English Bridge Union) and will be led by EBU accredited tutors. The course will last between 16 and 20 weeks depending on the learners’ previous card playing experience and how quickly they grasp the content. A small charge of approximately £5 per lesson will include refreshments of tea/coffee. In addition, there will be an initial registration charge of £20 to cover the cost of the official EBU course book which will be provided to each student.
The lessons will be held at The Royal British Legion clubhouse, Newlands Road, Corsham on Tuesday evenings at 7.30 pm OR AT AN ALTERNATIVE LOCATION - See Above. The RBL clubhouse is the regular venue for Corsham Bridge Club – where normal club meetings are held on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. The Tuesday lessons will be supplemented by ad-hoc get-togethers where the learners can practice their new shills playing with established players in a very informal and sociable environment. These supplementary sessions will be free of charge.
Please contact either Sue (01249 661415) or Chris (01249 819130) or Ray (01225 810240) to register your interest or to chat about the programme.
Alternatively, email us at corshambridgeclub@gmail.com.
No previous experience is needed, although a familiarity with card games could be an advantage. Anyone who can play whist will find it really easy to convert to bridge.
It is generally well accepted that learning a new skill is good for young and old alike. Surely a good enough reason to consider learning to play bridge. Furthermore, the social aspects of joining a club, making new friends and regularly meeting together are not to be underestimated.
So why not give it a try ?
